Ten-year-old Sophie finds herself homeless after her mothers death. It is when Sophie is about to give up on life that Esperanza finds her kneeling in the wet streets crying for her mother. When Esperanza takes Sophie to the convent, which she calls Gods house, Sophie believes that there she will find her mother again. Sophie remembers how her mother had spoken about going to be with God in his house. As Sophie and Esperanza talk they discover something very important about why their paths have crossed. Even though Sophie is ridiculed by most of the girls in the convent for her odd behavior in trying to find her mother and looking for God, she develops a lifelong friendship with one of the older girls. This story is about forgiveness, faith, and our ultimate goal of finding God and how He works miracles in our lives.
