The purpose of the Celebrate Recovery Curriculum is to recover from the countless hurts, habits, and hangups that life throws our way. It is a group fellowship program that focuses on the healing power of Jesus Christ. Celebrate Recovery uses the eight recovery principles" which were created by the Saddleback pastor Rick Warren. Celebrate Recovery works by changing people from the inside out. The Celebrate Recovery Participant Guides help in doing this by applying Biblical principles to other time tested recovery techniques. The goal of Celebrate Recovery is for participants to experience freedom from their hurts, which lead to peace, serenity, joy and better relationships.

Additional Celebrate Recovery Resources

Although not specifically part of the Celebrate Recovery program, there are several different resources that apply the same Christian recovery principles. These include the Life Recovery series, along with the new series by John Baker entitled, Life's Healing Choices.

Some of the main parts of the Celebrate Recovery Program are highlighted by the widely accepted eight recovery principles. These eight recovery principles of the Celebrate Recovery Program were developed by Rick Warren, the extremely successful pastor of Saddleback church. Each of the eight Christian recovery principles in the Celebrate Recovery Program are connected with one of the beatitudes from the Bible. For example, the first principle in Celebrate Recovery tells us that you need to realize that you are not all powerful...you are not God; It is essential to the Celebrate Recovery Program that you admit that you are powerless to control your habits of doing the wrong things. CR teaches that you must understand that your life is not solely in your control. These ideas come from the beatitude, "Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor".
