In the New Testament, Jesus appointed and called 12. However, after Jesus' death and resurrection, God called a Pharisee of the Pharisees, a learned man in the Law and the Prophets but started persecuting and killing the first Christians.

It was in that road in Damascus that Saul encountered Jesus the Messiah and received his call to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles. In His Epistles or Letters to the Churches which made up the majority of the New Testament writings, Paul (formerly Saul) used apologetics to convince, persuade, influence the Gentiles even appearing before emperors, kings, magistrates, and high temple officials like Pharisees and Sadducees in defense of the faith.

Even after the time of the New Testament writings, many Christians stood firm to the point of dying as a martyr in order to proclaim that the God of the Bible sent His Son Jesus to die for the sins of the world. Many of them died labeled as a heretic but later on as decades and centuries progressed, it was proven that what they have been fighting for is right all along.

In the contemporary day and age, there are still apologists who are very bold and vocal about God and Christianity through their writings and their teachings.

Almost every day, we are faced with a family member especially a spouse who opposes our faith or a co-worker or boss who attacks your faith in the Bible or even a neighbor who mocks you daily when you begin to pray and worship God. In some occasions, you will be confronted with a Jehovah's Witness at your door or a Mormon or a Muslim or even an atheistic friend who will say rude and mean things about your faith.
