The Koren Jerusalem Bible is a bilingual Hebrew-English Tanach. The English was translated by Harold Fisch, and is based on Friedlander's 1881 Jewish Family Bible, corrected, modernized and revised. Unique features incorporated: The paragraphing of the English translation parallels the division of the parshiyot in the Hebrew version on the facing page. The names of people and places in the translation are transliterations of the Hebrew names, as opposed to the Hellenized versions used in most translations. The transliteration adopted is based on the recommendations of the Hebrew Language Academy of Israel. All transliterated names are indexed at the nd of the book in alphabetical order, with their equivalent Hellenistic forms. Compact Three volume edition, slipcased, each of which can be easily kept in one's pocket, and is practical for traveling.
